Balancing the Budget "Ultra Conservative?" NOT!

Local Public Radio in Florida recently declared that Compact for America initiative was "ultra conservative." You can read the piece and listen to the sound bite here.

They're wrong. There's nothing "ultra conservative" about wanting to balance the federal budget. Just ask former U.S. Senator Paul Simon, whose early advocacy of a federal Balanced Budget Amendment was hardly an instance of "ultra conservativism." You can read about his principled policy stance here.

Although they may have been separated at birth, the only commonality between Senator Paul Simon and Columnist George Will besides supporting a federal Balanced Budget Amendment is their choice in eyeglasses and bow ties.

Let's stop the political class from dividing people who understand the federal government's fiscal trajectory is unsustainable and absurd.
